Wurstfest = Lard Butt Nirvana?

There are plenty of great Oktoberfest-type happenings out there, but your humble Lard Butt correspondent just returned from New Braunfels, Texas VERY impressed by Wurstfest, now in its 49th year of celebrating Bratwurst and other delicacies!  Imagine something held in the heart of Texas that happens to coincide with both Halloween and a busy day of college football, yet draws thousands upon thousands of attendees and has been doing so for five decades?  It’s a looong party that lasts until November 9 and covers an actual ‘Wurstfest Complex’ of big halls, a performance tent, and several ACRES of dining options!  Think about it: Does your city have a 'Wurstfest Complex'??

Well, the lovely hamlet of New Braunfels does, so we put Wurstfest to the test:

Schnitzel on a stick?  Check...

Bratwurst? Check…

Potato Pancakes? Check…

Beer?  Check…

A cheesy, yet brilliant slogan?  Er, check…’Where your Best Day is WURST’

Last but not least, a world-class umpah-band called the ‘Sauerkrauts’ to set the right mood?  Jawohl!...Check!

We here at Lard Butt don’t make a ton of recommendations, but if there is such a thing as a pilgrimage-type event for Lard Butts of all shapes and sizes to consider, Wurstfest is worthy!  Other events out there for Lard Butts to consider?
