Winter sports and Food: A Perfect Combination!

LBCinnamon_Roll.jpg

With ski and snowboarding season upon us already (looking like a GREAT ski season so far!), we thought it time to call out just a few of the best food offerings at various ski venues.  We at Lard Butt are always looking for great new skiing (and eating) ideas, so have a look at our list and reply with some of your favorites!

In no particular order, we especially like:

-A homemade cinnamon roll at Mt. Baker's (Washington) White Salmon Lodge: These things are usually snapped up quickly, so you might want to take an early ski break to enjoy one of these delights.  They're not the biggest cinnamon rolls you'll ever see, but they are among the best;

-A flame-grilled burger outside the Horstman Hut near the summit of Blackcomb, BC (part of Whistler-Blackcomb): This mammoth resort boasts more than its share of eating options, but for some reason (altitude?), the hamburgers grilled on sunny-day ocassions at this log-cabin-like perch way up on the mount especially hit the spot!  Big thumbs-up to the nachos at Dusty's Bar & Grill, located in Whistler Creekside's base area.

-Babyback ribs at the Slopeside Grill, right at the foot of the Steamboat (CO) resort: If ribs aren't your thing, this place offers pretty amazing homemade pastas, too.

-A custom burrito at Big Mountain's (Whitefish, MT) summit house:  A few choices here, and the crew on the mountain-top does 'em all right.

-A cold beer or cup of hot chocolate anywhere, after a great day on the slopes!

Enjoy the season, everyone -- and let us know of your favorites!

Although it is not actually

Although it is not actually at the ski resort, I will go with a slice (or 5) of Buffalo Wing pizza from MacKenzie River Pizza Co. in downtown Whitefish, Montana!

Gotta go with a homemade

Gotta go with a homemade chocolate chip cookie on the mid-mountain lodge at Alta, Utah!  These are just too good to pass up --
