On Friday, November 13 (yep, Friday the 13th), Lard Butt staged a private concert in Seattle featuring guitar legend Carl Verheyen of Supertramp fame (just named one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time by Classic Rock magazine), joined by the renowned rhythm section of bassist Dave Marotta, who has performed with the likes of BB King, Phil Collins, and Neil Diamond; and drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr, widely known for his work with Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood and Lindsey Buckingham.
The Carl Verheyen Band treated a packed house to a variety of original rock, blues and even country compositions that led the crowd to demand two encores and had many in the audience declaring it to be among the best concerts they had ever seen in-person. While Verheyen switched effortlessly between several electric and acoustic guitars -- frequently within the same song -- his band mates each delivered extended solos that left the audience wondering, 'how'd they do that??'
In addition to his private collection of more than 70 guitars, Verheyen owns a piece of attire that sets him apart from most in the music industry: http://lardbutt.com/guitar-legend-carl-verheyen-supertramp.
