A recent article in Outside magazine about the brain activity of extreme thrill seekers prompted me to take their online "Adventure Spectrum" quiz (https://www.surveys.mariahmedia.com/se.ashx?s=6427440A1365A53B). I wanted to see how high I rated on their chart. A score of 10 would put me in the BASE jumper category (a sport that involves jumping off of a really tall fixed object and deploying a parachute), while a score of 2 would place me in the mini-golfer category.
Although I would not claim to be an extreme athlete (a disastrous bunny slope outing 10 years ago has kept me from ever again downhill skiing), I do enjoy hiking and mountain biking. Also, I have a subscription to Outside magazine-- that HAS to count for something.
It doesn't. I scored a 2. I am a certified mini-golfer. Sadly, I did not even qualify as a regular golfer. Apparently, driving around in a little car on a giant manicured lawn is too adventurous for me.
Instead of going hiking this afternoon, I think I will just stay indoors taking online quizzes.
