Lard Butt 2024

1K (yes, that is 1K)

At a distance of 0.62 miles, the Lard Butt 1K is dedicated to the below-average athlete and weekend warrior in all of us. The Lard Butt 1K will replace timing chips with chocolate chips, water stations with donut stations and feature a well-stocked beer garden before and after. On top of being great fun for those who may be in decent shape and don't take themselves too seriously, it's an ideal confidence-builder for those of us not up to doing 5K or 10K events.

More Info

Advance Registration is $35, covering event entry, a Lard Butt 1K Tee-Shirt, one beer or mimosa for those 21 and over, along with other foods and on-site surprises. Day-of registration costs increase to $40.

Instead of traditional water stations, the Lard Butt 1K features donut stations every 250 meters, replaces timing chips with chocolate chips, and hosts a well-stocked beer garden before and after the 1K itself.  Along with a canned-food drive, there will be a “Spirit of Lard Butt” costume party, an on-site soundtrack and numerous other surprises.

There are four ways to attack the grueling, flat one-kilometer (0.62 mile) course:

Show-off Wave

For those with the audacity to run (expect heckling from race marshals and spectators).

Legends Wave

For those 250 pounds and heavier.

Waddler Wave

For the rest of us.

Kids Dash

For those 10 and younger.

 Charity + Get Cracking

To benefit those in need, organizers encourage each participant to bring at least two canned food items to the event, such as canned vegetables, fruits, and soups.  Under the mantra of “Get Cracking”, Lard Butt is the antidote to an era when overpaid professional athletes make headlines for steroid use, fistfights, and pouting over $10 million per-year salaries.

For those with a creative bent, the “Spirit of Lard Butt” Costume Party invites individuals and teams to show up in creative and relevant costumes to the Lard Butt 1K.

The event is wheelchair-accessible, parents with child strollers are welcome, and the event is dog-friendly for leashed pets.
